HIV and the military
Posted by Openly Positive in News, Talks

Openly Positive trustee Derrick Fine spoke on A personal perspective: Living with HIV, human security and the African military at a conference on HIV/AIDS and the African military from 11-13 March 2009 in Jinja, Uganda, attended by delegates from 17 African countries:
“I speak to you as a person living openly with HIV. I’m not a victim. I’m a human being… Many of our dearest friends have died from stress, shame and blame. How many of them could be alive today if they were able to live openly with HIV and get the support, treatment and care they deserved?”
