La sculpture des temps

La sculpture des temps
By Jean-Claude Puati Bazola, ©2011
La sculpture des temps is the French translation of Jean-Claude Puati Bazola’s short story, Sculptures of time, which forms part of Openly Positive's English short story collection, Whisper not.
Jean-Claude's life story is a journey of survival after growing up in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and escaping from homophobia to life with HIV as an asylum seeker in South Africa. Facing the additional challenge of xenophobia, his story is one of courage, resilience and determination against multiple odds.
The Lessons and questions for discussion at the end of his story invite you to reflect on and take charge of your own life:
“Life is not a long quiet river.”

Jean-Claude's lessons and questions
La sculpture des temps ends with a set of learning tools and reader aids:
- Lessons and questions for discussion (in French)
- A glossary of terms, abbreviations and acronyms
- References and useful reading.
The idea is to use the lessons and questions for discussion, together with the positive language guidelines also available on the site, in awareness workshops or in support groups. Topics include dealing with abuse, stigma and relationships, as well as psychological and treatment issues. The writing tips will help you when you start writing for yourself and the glossary will aid understanding, particularly of medical and foreign words, while the references will help with further reading, information and getting help.
